AfspraakWacht ("we", "us", "the app") monitors appointment availability at the Dutch Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) and Dutch municipalities (gemeenten), and notifies you the moment a matching slot opens up. This page explains what data the app collects, why, and what rights you have over it.

AfspraakWacht works without a traditional account — there is no name, email, or password to sign up with. The data described below is the minimum needed to run your monitors and deliver notifications.

1. Who is responsible for your data

AfspraakWacht is developed and operated by:

Yassin Bouasri

For any question about this policy or your data, contact: yassinbouasri@outlook.com

2. What data we collect

When you install and use AfspraakWacht, we collect:

  • A device identifier (push token). Used only to deliver notifications to your device through Apple's Push Notification service. Without it, we cannot notify you when a slot opens.
  • A randomly generated user ID. Created on first launch to associate your monitors and settings with your device — not tied to your name, email, or any other personal identifier.
  • Your monitor configuration. The IND product or gemeente service you're watching, the office/location, your acceptable date range, and (optionally) preferred times of day. This is the core information the app needs to know what to check for on your behalf.
  • Your language preference. So the app and its notifications are shown in the language you've selected.
  • Your subscription status. Whether you have an active Pro subscription or the earlier lifetime unlock, and the associated renewal or expiry date. Apple's App Store processes the actual payment — we never see or store your card details. We receive subscription status updates (start, renewal, expiry, cancellation) through a server-side webhook so we can unlock or revoke Pro features in real time.

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, physical address, precise or approximate location, photos, contacts, health data, or any other directly identifying information beyond what's listed above. In addition, we record a small number of usage events described in Section 3 — these use only the same anonymous identifier already listed here, combined with fixed catalog codes (for example, which service was selected), never your name, contact details, or other directly identifying information. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs, and none of the data above is used to track you across other apps or websites.

3. Anonymous usage analytics

To understand how the app is used and to improve it, we record a small number of anonymous, aggregate usage events — for example: which appointment service you view, when a monitor is created, when a Pro upgrade screen is shown or a purchase completes, and when a notification is sent to you. These events are stored on our own server in the EU, alongside the other data described above.

These events are tied only to the same randomly generated, anonymous identifier described earlier — never to your name, email, phone number, or any device-identifying information. We record only which in-app option was chosen (as a fixed catalog code, never free text), never personal details. This data lets us answer questions like "how many people who install the app go on to create a monitor" — it does not identify you.

We do not use any third-party analytics or advertising SDK, we do not share this data with anyone, and we do not use it to track you across other apps or websites. Under the GDPR, our legal basis for this limited processing is our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) in understanding and improving the app. You can ask us to delete your data at any time (see your rights, Section 9).

4. Why we process this data, and our legal basis

Your data is processed for two purposes: to provide the monitoring and notification service you've asked for by setting up a monitor, and to understand how the app is used and improve it (see Section 3). Under the GDPR, our legal basis for the monitoring service is performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) — we can't run your monitor or notify you without it — and, for basic technical operation, legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) in keeping the service secure and functioning correctly. The legal basis for the usage analytics described in Section 3 is legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)), as explained there.

5. Where your data is stored

Your data is stored on a server located in Helsinki, Finland, within the European Union. It does not leave the EU, except where Apple's own infrastructure (push notifications, App Store payment processing) is involved — Apple's processing of that data is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.

6. Who we share data with

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. Data is shared only with:

  • Apple — to deliver push notifications (APNs) and to process the Pro purchase (App Store/StoreKit). Apple never shares your card details with us.
  • Our hosting provider — solely to run the server that stores the data described above.

We do not send your data to the IND or to any gemeente. AfspraakWacht only reads publicly available appointment-availability information from their systems — it does not submit, upload, or share anything about you to them. Setting up a monitor in AfspraakWacht does not book, hold, or affect any appointment.

7. How long we keep your data

We keep your monitor configuration and associated identifiers for as long as you have an active monitor, or until you ask us to delete it. If you delete a monitor in the app, its configuration is removed from our server immediately. If you'd like your entire record — including your device identifier and user ID — deleted, contact us (see Section 9) and we'll remove it promptly.

8. Children's privacy

AfspraakWacht is not directed at children and is rated 4+ on the App Store. We do not knowingly collect data from children, and the app has no features that require age verification because it collects no data that would make that necessary.

9. Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to or restrict how we process your data
  • Receive a copy of your data in a portable format
  • Lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) or your local supervisory authority

To exercise any of these rights, email yassinbouasri@outlook.com. Since AfspraakWacht doesn't use traditional accounts, we may ask you to confirm your device's user ID (visible in the app, if we add a way to display it) so we can locate and act on the correct record.

10. Cookies and tracking in the app

The AfspraakWacht app is a mobile app, not a website — it does not use cookies. It does not use any advertising identifier and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

11. Cookies and tracking on this website

This section covers afspraakwacht.app, the marketing website you're reading right now — not the app itself, which is covered by Section 10 above.

This website uses a Google Ads conversion cookie to measure which advertisement led someone to click through to the App Store — nothing else. It doesn't use Google Analytics or any other analytics or advertising tool, and it doesn't set any cookie until you explicitly agree to it in the cookie banner shown on your first visit.

What happens before you choose: we use Google's Consent Mode, which defaults every category (ad storage, ad personalization, and analytics storage) to "denied." Before you accept, Google may still receive a basic, cookieless signal that a click happened, with no cookie set and nothing that identifies you personally — this lets Google estimate overall ad performance without storing anything on your device. Full tracking, including the cookie itself, only activates once you click "Accept."

Legal basis: your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a), and the cookie rule in the Dutch Telecommunicatiewet) — never legitimate interest, and never bundled with anything you need in order to use the site.

Withdrawing consent: click "Reject" in the banner, or clear this site's data in your browser settings, at any time. Rejecting doesn't limit anything on the site — every page, the article, and the FAQ work identically either way.

Rechtsgrondslag: jouw toestemming (AVG art.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time — for example, if we add new features or integrate a new service provider. The "Last updated" date at the top will always reflect the latest version. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
